Yann Buanec, at the Placéco launch party, early September -

Placéco

  • Founder of Placéco, Yann Buanec was editor-in-chief of the Journal des Entreprises en Gironde for ten years.

  • He brings with him seven bosses very involved in the Girondin ecosystem, for his pureplayer project dedicated to the life of companies.

  • The economic model is based on subscriptions from members, and on the sale of services to business leaders.

Usually, launching a new medium is already a perilous affair.

But then in the midst of the Covid-19 crisis ... Yet Yann Buanec is not in the least worried, as he arrives in this re-entry into the market with his new pureplayer, Placéco.

This internet platform, which will deal almost exclusively with economic news from the Gironde ecosystem, and in particular the issues of business leaders, appears to be halfway between the media and the business club.

Two journalists on permanent contracts take care of the editorial part, with articles on current trends, portraits or interviews of entrepreneurs ... And two salespeople are responsible for making the service part prosper, such as the Placéco Affaires section (linking of entrepreneurs looking for a good or a service) or Placéco Job (branding, catalog of companies where it is good to work ...) or webinars.

The economic model is also based on members' subscriptions, currently offered at 365 euros instead of 450 euros per year.

"Space to create something that doesn't exist elsewhere"

Editor-in-chief of the Journal des Entreprises en Gironde for ten years, Yann Buanec knows the environment like the back of his hand.

“I watched what other economic media are doing, I listened to what business leaders told me, and I said to myself that there was room to create something that does not exist elsewhere, he explains.

So I worked on a business model for six months, which I went to present to investors, bosses that I chose for their involvement in the local ecosystem.

The idea is to make a media by the bosses, for the bosses, and if we do not refrain from dealing with a social plan in a company, we above all aim to be an optimistic media.

"

Seven business leaders, some of whom are very well known in Bordeaux such as Julien Parrou (boss of ActiPlay), have agreed to embark on the adventure, and funded the project for an amount that Yann Buanec does not wish to communicate.

A charter of rights and duties was signed by the seven funders, “which guarantees the editorial staff its independence”.

"I want my investors to be completely part of the adventure"

Installed in a business incubator in Talence, Placéco is a 100% digital medium, “very focused on video and interactivity”.

For example, there will be “an interactive live show every month, in the office of a big boss.

"" We want to respond to the issues facing bosses today.

Yann Buanec also intends to "offer meetings exclusively dedicated to our members" with the ambition of federating a community.

The goal is to have “a hundred by the end of the year, which I think will be largely achieved.

"

“The goal is to be in balance within twelve months,” announces Yann Buanec.

Next, our vocation is to be profitable of course, which is what investors want, but I also want them to be completely part of the adventure, and for them to bring us their expertise in different areas.

"

Far from being demoralized by the ambient gloom, the boss of Placéco is even convinced that he can turn the current crisis into an opportunity to attract companies looking for a rebound and new models.
