The Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) reported that the auto and spare parts sector employs more than 7,400 employees, working in 600 companies from 65 countries, noting that the facilities of this sector occupy an area of ​​1.37 million square meters.

According to a statement issued yesterday, Dubai Ports World - UAE Region and Jafza have united their efforts to achieve strategic cooperation with the Federation of Indian Industries within the 2020 Virtual Automobile Summit, where the positive treatment mechanism for the auto sector in the face of the Corona pandemic was highlighted.

During the virtual summit, speakers explained the importance of creating a market that relies on its own components, is sustainable and stable, and stressed the need for new measures, such as increasing reliance on local sources in the automotive industry, adopting technology, using new generation solutions for mobility and increasing the contribution to the global value chain.

“We are pleased to be part of the 2020 Automobile Summit, and our cooperation with the Federation of Indian Industries constitutes an important opportunity to benefit from the Indian market and communicate with our partners in it,” said the Executive Director and General Manager of DP World - UAE Region, and CEO of Jafza.

He added that “the pandemic revealed weakness in supply chains and demonstrated the need for supply chains capable of withstanding this type of crisis, as companies in the region and around the world suffered greatly due to the global crisis, and import and export activities slowed down due to the closure of many global factories and markets in all Around the world as part of efforts to adhere to strict lockdown measures.

It is noteworthy that the DP World network is spread across a number of ports in the Indian subcontinent on a large scale, and it is the first global operator to hold a license through India in the Indian freight railway industry, and has expansion plans to enhance market access through shipping centers located in India.

DP World India includes six terminals, seven internal container depots, private shipping terminals, five container shipping terminals, and 20 railways.
