"MUJI" cuts clothing prices for autumn and winter due to tax increase and new corona at 13:17 on October 1st

MUJI's operating company has announced that it will reduce the price of autumn / winter clothing by up to 1,500 yen, saying that the consumption tax hike a year ago and the impact of the new corona virus will further increase consumers' desire to save money.

MUJI, which operates MUJI, will gradually reduce the prices of more than 70 mainstay clothing items for autumn and winter, such as sweaters and vests.

The price reduction range is from 100 yen to 1500 yen including tax. For example, the vest for gentlemen, which was sold for 3990 yen including tax, has been reduced by 1000 yen.

The reason for making a large-scale price cut is that the consumption tax hike a year ago and the impact of the new corona virus are expected to further increase consumers' desire to save money, so quality will not be affected. It means that the cost was reduced by reviewing the production process, etc.

In the retail industry, a major supermarket, Seiyu, has begun to reassess prices, with prices of 765 food and daily necessities cut last month.

Yoji Saito, General Manager of Clothing and General Goods Department of Ryohin Keikaku, said, "Amid the growing tendency to save money, we have returned to the starting point of providing good products at low prices."
