Will bars and restaurants be able to reopen?

The administrative court of Marseille will give its decision this Wednesday at 3 p.m., while local and professional authorities have taken legal action to suspend the order requiring bars and restaurants to close for two weeks.

"We are in the midst of collective hysteria", accused Tuesday at the hearing Me Grégory Nicolaï, for the Umih, main union in the sector, co-author of the collective action in summary-freedom against this prefectural order, with twenty bars and restaurants and almost all local political institutions (region, department, metropolis and city of Aix-en-Provence).

A "useless, inappropriate and unfair" decree

“Nothing, neither in the file of the prefect of Bouches-du-Rhône, nor in the opinion of the Regional Health Agency, ever mentions the word bar or restaurant!

It's magic ”, insisted the lawyer, at the helm of the administrative court of Marseille, recalling that this sector represents 6,810 establishments in the department, or 21,926 direct jobs.

Regretting for his part an order "useless, inappropriate and unfair", Me Xavier Cachard, for the region, the department, the metropolis and the city of Aix-en-Provence, considers that "simple measures" would allow "to preserve a whole part of our economy ”.
