C. PLANCHARD / 20 MINUTES

Faced with the drop in sales caused by the health crisis, the automotive supplier Valeo recorded a net loss of 1.21 billion euros over the first six months of the year.

Discussions were therefore engaged in the company and they ended on Tuesday.

The CFE-CGC and FO unions have decided to sign the agreement negotiated with the management where it undertakes not to carry out any social plan in France for two years, in exchange for a wage freeze.

The signature of these two organizations, which together hold more than 50% of union representation, validates this agreement, which the CGT and CFDT have decided not to sign.

A "responsible agreement" for the CFE-CGC ...

"To save employment", the CFE-CGC approved a text where the management "undertakes" not to carry out "forced collective economic redundancies" and "not to launch a procedure aimed at permanently closing an establishment in France, for a period of 24 months following signature ”.

"In return, salaries will be frozen for a year, or even two", "additional days of leave" will be removed and "bonuses or gratuities" will decrease, adds the CFE-CGC.

This "responsible agreement" should "allow Valeo to get through the crisis" by "preserving 13,500 jobs", believes the union.

According to FO, in addition to "a salary freeze on overall increases" for 2021 and a reduction in "retirement benefits", the agreement provides for "better compensation for long-term partial unemployment increased to 80% of gross instead by 70% ”.

A "better fortune clause" will allow "more favorable measures" if the "objectives set in the agreement" are achieved.

... but insufficient for the CGT and CFDT

The CGT, the company's second union, announced last week that it would not sign the agreement.

The CFDT has also decided not to sign an agreement that it found in particular "insufficient in terms of guarantees on employment," said Philippe Wattebled, delegate of the fourth union of Valeo.
