CEOE has obtained over the last hours assignments from the Government that could lead businessmen to support the agreement proposed by Work to
extend the ERTE until January 31
.
The executive committee of the employers' association has met today early in the morning to vote their support for the text, awaiting
last minute modifications
since they were dissatisfied yesterday.
If the Government finally includes
commerce and hospitality
in the categories of sectors especially affected
, the Government could approve the regulation with the support of all social agents.
The Minister of Labor,
Yolanda Díaz
, and the person in charge of Social Security,
José Luis Escrivá
, are ready to take their proposal to the Council of Ministers today with or without business support.
The president of the CEOE,
Antonio Garamendi,
has pointed out this morning that an agreement could be reached "at the last minute" for the extension of the conditions of the temporary employment regulation files (ERTE) that the Government plans to approve.
In an interview at COPE, Garamendi assured that negotiations are still ongoing and that the employer's endorsement will depend on what its Executive Committee, which meets this morning, decides.
Garamendi has regretted that "until a very few hours ago" the Government left out of its proposal hospitality, commerce or nightlife businesses, which have been greatly affected by the pandemic, which together with the lack of information on the cost of the exonerations have made it "quite difficult to try to reach any agreement," reports Efe.
The Social Security quota exemptions included in the latest proposal "may be adequate," he admitted, but insisted that until now it was intended to leave the "most vulnerable" part of business "in the pipeline", an aspect in which employers have felt "a little lonely" without the support of the unions.
