Controversy. Pablo Iglesias and Alberto Garzón accuse the King of breaking his "political neutrality" and of "maneuvering against the Government"
The main employers' associations of the country, CEOE and Cepyme, have launched an unusual statement this Friday to express
their express support for King Felipe VI
and to show their "
most absolute rejection of what from some instances of our country
, with statements against the Chief of the State, it seeks to divide and confront Spanish society ".
"From CEOE and Cepyme we insist once again that
legal certainty is basic
for the proper functioning of the economy because it provides the necessary confidence for Spanish companies to carry out their activity in a predictable framework. This stability necessarily requires the
respect of all to the institutions of the State
", warn the businessmen.
"Those who do not walk in this direction will only be able to postpone and
make more difficult the
economic and social
recovery
that we all long for so much," warn the employers' associations led by Antonio Garamendi and Gerardo Cuerva.
The businessmen's letter comes just a few hours after the Vice President of the Government
Pablo Iglesias
and the Minister of Consumption,
Alberto Garzón
, have accused Felipe VI of
breaking his "political neutrality"
and of "maneuvering against the Government" after learning that The monarch telephoned Carlos Lesmes, president of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) this Friday, to convey that he would have liked to attend the delivery ceremony for the new class of judges in Barcelona, the most important judicial act that takes place in Catalonia.
Unconditional support
The note sent jointly by CEOE and Cepyme highlights in a few lines their "unconditional support for the Spanish Constitution, which has protected the most prosperous years in the recent history of our country, and therefore for the Parliamentary Monarchy, symbol of our Democracy ".
"Spanish companies", the letter emphasizes, "we expressly want to convey our support to His Majesty King Felipe VI, whom we thank for his dedication to our country and his fundamental and indispensable role in supporting our companies, especially in the latter months of crisis. On the contrary, we show our most absolute rejection that some instances of our country, with statements against the Head of State, seek to divide and confront Spanish society. "
As we have always defended, we reiterate that Spain, more than ever, needs unity, stability and trust in these moments of crisis.
