Airbus has decided to keep aircraft production stable for now, despite warnings that the corona crisis will last longer than initially thought, sources around the company say on Thursday.
The European aircraft manufacturer currently produces 40 A320neos per month.
Before the corona crisis, there were 60 per month.
Airbus wants to stick to the current production schedule for the time being.
This is good news for suppliers, but Airbus currently has about 170 aircraft in stock.
Due to the corona crisis, things are not going well for Airbus. On Tuesday, the CEO said he could not rule out firing staff. The company has to cut fifteen thousand jobs and hopes to achieve that with a voluntary severance scheme. In 2019, 134,000 people worked at the company.
