Shipment value of digital home appliances increased for 2 consecutive months "Demand for nesting" background was 13:18 on September 23

Last month's shipments of digital home appliances exceeded the same month of the previous year for the second straight month.

The number of large TVs has increased significantly against the backdrop of so-called nesting demand affected by the new coronavirus.

According to the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association, last month's shipments of digital home appliances were 111.5 billion yen, up 2.2% from the same month last year.

This was the second consecutive month of growth, with a 48% increase in large TVs, especially those of 50 inches and above, showing high growth.

Regarding this, industry groups believe that there is a move to replace the TV with a larger one, as the time spent at home has increased due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection.

On the other hand, according to the Japan Electric Industry Association, the shipment value of air conditioners and washing machines last month was 211.8 billion yen, a decrease of 2.8% from the same month last year.

It seems to be a reaction to the last-minute demand ahead of the consumption tax hike last year, and it decreased for the first time in three months.
