The top 100 counties and cities in Western China in 2020 are distributed in 11 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), including 29 in Sichuan, 12 in Inner Mongolia, 12 in Yunnan, 11 in Xinjiang, 10 in Guizhou, 9 in Shaanxi, 7 in Guangxi, and 6 in Chongqing. According to the "Report", Zhungeer Banner in Inner Mongolia, Shenmu City in Shaanxi, Renhuai City in Guizhou, Xichang City in Sichuan, Anning City in Yunnan, Korla City in Xinjiang, Lingwu City in Ningxia, Golmud City in Qinghai, Zhong County in Chongqing, Pingguo City in Guangxi, Gansu Yumen City ranks first in the list of the top 100 counties in the western provinces, and has become the "leader" in the development of counties in each province.
Compared with 2019, there are 7 “new members” in the top 100 counties and cities in western China in 2020, namely Longli County in Guizhou, Bobai County in Guangxi, Alxa Left Banner in Inner Mongolia, Yumen City in Gansu, Xishui County in Guizhou, and Weiyuan in Sichuan County, Hepu County, Guangxi.
The "Report" pointed out that in 2020 the average competitiveness index of the top 100 counties and cities in western China reached 75.50, an increase of 1.92 over last year.
The comprehensive index of the top 100 western counties continued to increase, but the performance of the sub-indices varied greatly.
The economic quality index and the economic scale index have accelerated their rise, the people's living index has steadily increased but the growth rate has slowed down, the economic vitality index has fallen, and the trend of "quality improvement and slowing" is obvious.
The monitoring results show that the comprehensive competitiveness of counties in the western region continues to increase, which is manifested in the initial results of high-quality economic development, the continuous increase in the protection and improvement of people’s livelihood, and the rapid growth of economic scale (including factors such as the adjustment of the data after the fourth national economic census) Superimposed influence), but also shows that the development momentum of western counties has a clear downward trend.
