The case of Jorge Pérez, the former head of Regulation of the Bank of Spain, who was fired after criticizing the supervisor's protection of Bankia accounts in 2011, reaches the Prosecutor's Office.

The Intersindical Credit Confederation (CIC), which exercises the popular accusation in the so-called Bankia case, has decided this week to file a complaint against senior officials of the Bank of Spain for the commission of various crimes in the treatment and dismissal in 2019 of the former director of accounting regulation of the supervisor.

This is confirmed by the president of CIC, Gonzalo Postigo, to this newspaper.

This union that replaced UPyD in the accusation of the alleged Bankia fraud is directing this new complaint against the current Secretary General of the Bank of Spain, Javier Priego, the General Director of Services, Alejandro Álvarez and the civil servants Cristina Taboada and María Ortega.

He accuses them of the crimes of revealing secrets, violation of the right to guarantee indemnity, crime against the privacy of people, prevarication and embezzlement of public funds.

According to the text, these positions of the Bank of Spain are responsible for opening an internal investigation to Pérez for his dismissal and which included giving a Deloitte subsidiary more than 48,000 personal emails of this already former director.

Deloitte is awaiting the judgment in the Bankia case for its action in validating its accounts before going public.

According to Pérez, they should never have been approved by either Deloitte or the Bank of Spain, because they hid losses.

According to the CIC, “all this goes to show that, for Mr. Jorge Pérez Ramírez they made his bed, from the moment the justification for opening the case against him was false, but it was used to purge him for being contrary to the story Bank of Spain official '.

It refers to the fact that an investigation was opened into him for an alleged leak of confidential information that Pérez denied and that a Social Court that has examined his dismissal does not consider it to be proven.

However, the Bank of Spain won the lawsuit for the dismissal, because Pérez had filed a complaint after the deadline.

The case has now been taken up by the CIC but it goes beyond the labor section that Pérez denounced and goes to the prison, considering that those who intervened in Pérez's dismissal may have committed various crimes.

The Bank of Spain, for its part, has flatly denied any irregularity in the dismissal of Pérez and, on the contrary, argued during the trial that he collaborated in an expert report on the Banco Popular in a manner incompatible with his position in the supervisor.

Pérez has denied such incompatibility.

Postigo justifies the presentation of the complaint, because it has been trying for years to purge responsibilities in the Bank of Spain for complicity with the Bankia leadership in the alleged scam and, however, those who fall out of favor are the supervisor's technicians who tried to did not go public with falsified accounts.

To the violation of Pérez's privacy with the investigation of his emails, the complaint links the embezzlement of 62,068 euros paid by the Bank of Spain to Deloitte and the Sagardoy and Uría law firms to work and defend the disciplinary file and subsequent dismissal of Pérez.

"Quite a nonsense for the public purse, since the Bank of Spain has an entire legal department large enough and theoretically trained to be able to face a demand for dismissal," says CIC.

The current Anti-Corruption Prosecutor, Alejandro Luzón, rejected in 2016 the CIC complaint against the Bank of Spain for collaboration with the scam, not seeing fraud in the supervisor's actions.
