“He has a political background.

First, the project will compete with American shale gas, as well as existing pipelines running through Ukraine and through Poland, ”he said.

As the parliamentarian noted, if Nord Stream 2 starts working, then the collection of transit duties, which bring income to Ukraine and Poland, will no longer be "such a profitable business."

“Secondly, the establishment of economic ties between Germany and Russia in the energy sector will make Germany more independent of US influence.

And this is undesirable for those who dream of an American empire on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, ”he added.

Speaking about the resolution of the European Parliament on the situation with Alexei Navalny, he called the incident another opportunity "to promote the anti-Russian agenda."

“I followed the course of discussions, especially on Nord Stream 2, which took place within the American delegation of the European Parliament for months.

And every time we met, I asked the US representative why they are imposing illegal sanctions against third parties.

The answer is always the same: "Our government will do everything possible to stop this project."

When you have a clear goal - to stop the project, you will use every opportunity to achieve this, ”the deputy added.

According to Krakh, "this obscure incident" that happened with Navalny "became one of the opportunities to advance their agenda."

“So at the very beginning it was obvious that this chance would be used,” he said.

On September 17, the European Parliament approved a resolution on the situation with Alexei Navalny.

The document contains calls to impose sanctions against Russia, conduct an international investigation and stop the construction of Nord Stream 2.

As Russian leader Vladimir Putin emphasized, the commissioning of Nord Stream 2 will not mean a refusal to transit gas through Ukraine.
