New ferry route connecting Maizuru Port in Kyoto and South Korea / Russia opened September 17, 19:24

A new ferry route connecting Maizuru Port in Kyoto Prefecture with South Korea and Russia was opened, and the first flight arrived at Maizuru Port on the 17th.

The newly opened ferry route connects Maizuru Port, Pohang (Pohang) in South Korea, and Vladivostok in Russia, and calls once a week.

After 3:30 pm on the 17th, the 140-meter-long "EASTERN DREAM" arrived at Maizuru Port on the first regular ferry service on this route.

Then, after the containers brought from Pohang were unloaded at the port, used cars for Vladivostok were brought in one after another.

At the port, a welcome ceremony was held with about 50 people attending, including Mayor Ryozo Tatami of Maizuru City.

It is expected that the new route will revitalize logistics on the Sea of Japan side and promote tourism, but due to immigration restrictions accompanying the prevention of the spread of the new coronavirus infection, passengers will not be able to board the ship for the time being. ..

Mayor Tatami said, "Unlike freighters, ferries can carry both people and goods, so I hope that exchanges with the world will continue to expand through Maizuru Port."
