August Trade Statistics Both imports and exports continue to decline September 16th, 9:08

Japan's exports fell 14.8% compared to the same month last year, according to August trade statistics released by the Treasury.

On the other hand, the import value also decreased by 20.8%.

In both cases, the rate of decline is smaller than in the previous month, but the effects of the global economic downturn due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection continue.

As a result, last month's trade balance, which is exports minus imports, was a surplus of 248.3 billion yen, the second consecutive month of surplus.
