In the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, hundreds of demonstrators protested on Tuesday, September 15 against the signing of the agreement to normalize relations between Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

An agreement which seems, above all, for the moment to relegate the Palestinian question to the background.

Two rockets were fired Tuesday evening from the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian enclave controlled by Islamists Hamas, into Israel, the Israeli army said.

The shooting took place while the signing ceremony of the

agreements to normalize relations

between Israel and two Gulf countries, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, was taking place.

Earlier, in Ramallah's central square, Al Manarah, hundreds of people gathered, Palestinian flags in hand, lively music.

On the signs they brandished, we could read “

Traitres

 ” or “

No to normalization with the occupier

 ”.

Leaders of all factions side by side

Young people were rare among the demonstrators.

Most were in their forties and fifties.

However, leaders of all factions were present, side by side, noted our correspondent in Ramallah,

Alice Froussard

.

There were ministers from the Palestinian Authority, members of the Palestine Liberation Organization, and others from Hamas.

They followed one another at the microphone, denouncing agreements of shame.

This union is unusual after almost 15 years of divisions between Fatah and Hamas.

The frustration was palpable.

All see in the signing of this agreement to normalize relations between the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Israel a "

stab

 " in the back.

Disappointed with the attitude of the Arab League towards the Palestinian cause, with the change of paradigm and priority, all advocate unity as the only solution.

W

e have hope in the Arab people, the Arab nation, but we are especially

 angry

with the leaders of these Gulf countries, not the population,

" however insisted on Marouf Arefai, member of the Palestinian Authority.
