The automotive market has recovered, despite the economic and health crisis, driven by the sale of used cars.

About 1,100,000 cars changed owners this summer.

Double-digit growth can be observed in electric vehicles. 

Despite the health and economic crisis, the automotive market has picked up rather well, driven by the sale of used cars.

After a logical catching-up effect, during the first weeks after deconfinement, sales remained at a very high level with another 17% in August and double-digit growth since the beginning of September.

The used car is the mode of transport that is doing the best, for both health and economic reasons.

For Guillaume Paoli, co-founder of Aramis Auto, leader in automobile distribution, the conversion premium effect has clearly revived the market.

“The device in its June version, and even in its August version, made a number of interesting purchases, especially for populations a little more limited in terms of purchasing power. It is reliable. , there are guarantees: it is a good alternative, in particular in a period when one pays attention to the investments which one makes ", he explains. 

The electric vehicle boom

The opportunity rather than the new: a logical decision also when some French people abandon public transport and have saved enough to invest a few thousand euros.

The acclaimed models are the Renault Clio and the Peugeot 207 and 208. On the engine side, more petrol than diesel, but also more and more hybrid or electric vehicles. 

"We find the Zoe, but also more recent models like the 208, the Mercedes EQC", notes Marie-Laure Nivot, data specialist at AAA Data.

"We are still on double-digit growth in used electric vehicles."

AAA Data also notes that the "stock effect" linked to the confinement has accelerated sales of used cars under a year.
