  The Pinglu Canal is an important passage to the sea in Guangxi's inland water transportation planning, and an important part of the new land-sea passage in the west.

It is planned to cross the watershed from the Pingtang River estuary of the Xijin Reservoir in Hengxian County, Nanning City along the Shaping River to the south through Luwu Town, Lingshan County into the Qinjiang River to the Qinzhou Shajing. The total length is about 133 kilometers and the total investment is about 60 billion yuan. It can pass 3000-ton ships in both directions. The mileage from Nanning to the sea from Qinzhou Port via the Pinglu Canal is only 291 kilometers, which is more than 560 kilometers shorter than that via Guangdong.

The Pinglu Canal Bridge was built for the Dapu Expressway to cross the Pinglu Canal. It was invested and constructed by Guangxi Beibu Gulf Investment Group and undertaken by the Eighth Bureau of China Construction.

The Pinglu Canal Bridge is a continuous rigid frame bridge with the largest span under construction in Guangxi, with a total length of 938 meters and a main span of 200 meters.

  The Datang-Pubei Expressway is a major project coordinated and promoted at the level of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, while the Pinglu Canal Bridge is a key control project for the Dapu Expressway project.

After the Dapu Expressway is opened to traffic, it will be connected with Wuxu-Datang Expressway, Nanning-Beihai Expressway, Guigang-Hepu Expressway, Pubei-Beiliu Expressway, Liujing-Qinzhou Port Expressway, among which, Wuda After the completion of the three sections of expressways from Dapu, Pubei to Beiliu, they will become another fast and convenient expressway for inter-provincial transportation between Guangdong and Guangxi.
