The UAE government has adopted the “Government Data Maturity Index” as a standard for measuring the quality of statistical data in federal government agencies and agencies, with the aim of enhancing the quality of government data, the sustainability of its exchange between data producers and national statistical agencies in the country, and their governance, and within the framework of the periodic updating of the system of government enablers indicators that It is measured at the federal level.

The index, which was applied as of this year, consists of main axes, basic and subsidiary standards that represent the main pillars of data management in government agencies.

The Director General of the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority, Abdullah Nasser Lootah, stressed that the adoption of the government data maturity index represents an added value to the efforts made by the authority to ensure the provision of government data in a manner consistent with unified standards, methodologies, and internationally approved quality standards for decision makers for the purposes of planning and policy development. And improving legislation, in order to contribute to meeting the indicators of the national agenda and indicators of global competitiveness reports, which strengthens the UAE's position on the global competitiveness map.

Lootah said that the index was developed by a team of young national competencies and global expertise working under the umbrella of the authority, pointing out that the index aims to measure the ability of federal government agencies to manage and provide high-quality data, within accurate standards and international standards, in addition to measuring the level of maturity Government data, according to the standard of the entity's regulatory and operational framework, in the field of data availability and management, and the standard for quality assurance.

For his part, the Executive Director of Governmental Performance in the Prime Minister's Office at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, Khaled Al-Harmoudi, said that providing high-quality data helps government agencies to enhance work efficiency, improve performance, and enable the government to support its decisions based on integrated data and results within A system of government enablers indicators whose performance is monitored at the federal level.

Indicator weights and standards

The Executive Director of the Statistics and National Data Sector at the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority, Mohamed Hassan, confirmed that the government data maturity index was designed according to the highest international standards in the field of statistics and data management, indicating that the index consists of three main axes, six basic standards, and 11 sub-criteria. .

He explained that weights were set according to the importance of the axis, as 25% is calculated for the organizational and operational framework, 30% for data quality assurance, and 45% for the extent of data flow and availability, pointing out that the weights of criteria are adjustable according to the evaluation results in the first year.
