705 “Volvo” and “Kia” cars were recalled due to manufacturing defects

The Ministry confirmed that the recall comes within the framework of its commitment to follow up the products in the country's markets

Yesterday, the Ministry of Economy announced two car recall campaigns, including 705 vehicles of the "Volvo" and "Kia" brands, in order to correct manufacturing defects.

The ministry stated that the initial safety campaign includes 635 Volvo cars of several models from 2008 to 2018, in cooperation with the Commercial Enterprises Company, the local importer of Volvo cars in the UAE.

The ministry stated in a report, that the recall comes as a result of a defect in the front seat belt wire installed on the outer panel side of the front seat, as the wire may have less strength with the passage of time under certain circumstances, which may lead to insufficient support for the front seat belt in Collision case.

She added that "commercial enterprises" would initiate contact with the concerned dealers to inform them of the summons, to bring their vehicles as soon as the required spare parts are available, provided that the relevant part of the seat belt will be replaced free of charge.

The Ministry of Economy also announced a recall campaign for safety reasons as well, including 70 Kia Pegas models 2019-2020, in cooperation with Al Majid Motors, the local importer of Kia cars in the country.

The ministry indicated that the call, which was launched after communicating with the company, Kia Motors Corporation, aims to improve the tire pressure monitoring system, indicating that Al-Majid Motors has begun communicating with consumers of cars that are covered by the maintenance campaign.

The ministry stated that the recall operations come within the framework of the ministry's commitment to permanent follow-up of all products on the country's market, in an effort to protect the consumer from any damage that may befall him.
