Expanded to eight fraudulent withdrawals through "docomo account" Strengthening identity verification September 9 12:13

Through NTT Docomo's electronic payment service, “docomo account,” the number of banks confirmed to have been damaged due to the problem of illegal withdrawal of deposits at banks in various regions has increased to eight.

In order to prevent a recurrence, NTT DOCOMO has established a policy to change the system so that the account cannot be opened without entering the PIN sent by short mail.

"DOCOMO account" is an electronic payment service that allows you to shop and send money with your smartphone by registering a bank account and making a deposit, but the damage caused by unauthorized withdrawal of bank deposits through this account is occurring one after another.

Banks confirmed to have fraudulent withdrawal of deposits were as of 11:00 am on September 9 at Sendai City Bank of 77, Okayama City Bank of China, Fukushima City Toho Bank, Tottori City Tottori Bank, and Otsu City Bank. The eight banks are Shiga Bank, Ogaki Kyoritsu Bank in Gifu Prefecture, Kiyo Bank in Wakayama City, and Michinoku Bank in Aomori City.

In order to prevent future damage, the number of banks that have suspended new registrations linked to docomo accounts has newly added "Yucho Bank", and there are 18 banks nationwide.

Due to this issue, NTT Docomo opened a docomo account by someone impersonating a depositor and then using a fraudulently obtained bank account number or bank card PIN I suspect that I sent the money to.

NTT Docomo has established a policy to strengthen identity verification when opening a Docomo account to prevent a recurrence.

Specifically, the policy is to change the system so that the identity verification using the email address that has been used up to now will be cancelled, and the mobile phone number must be entered, and the PIN number sent to the mobile phone by short mail will be entered.

The damage situation is

NTT Docomo has not revealed the scale of damage caused by illegally withdrawing deposits through a docomo account, but according to each bank, there is one damage at "Michinoku Bank" in Aomori City, and 300,000 yen is illegal. Is that I was drawn to.

The Tottori Bank of Tottori City suffered several damages, and a total of several hundred thousand yen was withdrawn.

In addition, the Bank of China in Sendai City, the Bank of China in Okayama City, and the Ogaki Kyoritsu Bank in Gifu Prefecture each suffered several damages; the Toho Bank in Fukushima City, the Shiga Bank in Otsu City, and Wakayama. The city's "Kiyo Bank" has confirmed one case of damage each.

Each bank is investigating the details of the damage and other suspicious transactions.

FSA Calls attention to each financial institution

In response to the problem that bank deposits were withdrawn illegally through “docomo accounts”, the FSA warns all financial institutions that handle deposits, such as banks and credit unions, to take note of any unauthorized withdrawals. At the same time, I asked for documents to thoroughly implement measures.

Moreover, if any unauthorized withdrawal of deposits is confirmed, we request that you immediately investigate and report the facts and causes.
