In detail, the Secretary-General of the Emirates Insurance Association, Farid Lotfi, said that the "travel insurance" product provided by insurance companies is mandatory for destinations that request it, as the boarding procedures cannot be completed without it.
He assured «Emirates Today» that the product provided by insurance companies is an independent document that the traveler can buy to cover infection with the emerging Coronavirus (Covid-19), and the accompanying costs of visiting a hospital, or a need to stay in a hotel, for example, with a maximum of two weeks, As well as medicines.
Lotfi explained that health insurance has become one of the main requirements of many countries, indicating that many travel destinations require it before receiving travelers, and therefore every traveler must familiarize himself with these requirements before booking a ticket, and determine whether he will choose the insurance provided by airlines. Or, it is preferable to obtain it directly from the insurance company.
He said that airlines provide insurance through insurance companies also with the travel ticket, which is an option for the traveler, in addition to the option offered by insurance companies through a specially prepared document, noting that the insurance policy covers travel for one destination only.

Lotfi continued: “It is normal for the insurance price that the companies provide individually to be different, and higher than that provided by airlines for large numbers, at preferential prices, but the choice remains for the traveler who determines the size of the insurance coverage he wants, and its level, and ensuring commitment when the insured risk occurs. He pointed out that the market includes several companies that offer this document, with various options, and prices that match the form of coverage within the mechanisms of competition, and the open market for the insurance sector.
