He pointed out that the insurance sector in the UAE is the largest in the Arab world, whether in terms of the number of companies operating in the market, which amounts to 61 companies, or at the level of the premiums, explaining that the UAE’s share is 40% of the insurance market in all Arab countries.

Lotfi emphasized the vital role of the sector in ensuring individuals and properties against various risks, pointing out that the total written premiums reached 44 billion dirhams, while the volume of investments amounted to about 69 billion dirhams during the past year.

He added that the latest indicators announced by the Insurance Authority indicate that insurance companies have paid claims related to the Coronavirus, totaling about 134 million dirhams, until the end of July of this year.
