The start of the school year took place on Saturday September 5 in Iran.

The government's decision to open schools is, however, frowned upon by many Iranians, including politicians and health professionals, who have warned of a

rebound in the Covid-19 epidemic

.

President

Hassan Rohani

has been harshly criticized because he himself refused to go to a school, as tradition dictates, for the start of the school year.

He gave a speech online for the occasion.

The Minister of Education summoned to Parliament

Many parents refused to send their children to school, as Fariba, a 13-year-old mother of twins, explains.

“

We decided not to send them to school because of the coronavirus

,” she explains.

The majority of mothers, with whom I am in contact, have decided not to send their children to school and to organize the courses online.

 "

Iranians fear that the reopening of schools, especially in half of the provinces classified as red zone, will cause a return of the epidemic.

But despite warnings from health professionals, the government has maintained its decision.

Many parliamentarians criticized this position, and the Minister of National Education was summoned to Parliament.
