This is the domino effect.

In the wake of Airbus, the entire Toulouse aeronautics industry is suffering from the consequences of the coronavirus.

Now with a concrete illustration, the number of employment protection plans (PSE) instructed by the administration.

"To date, at the beginning of September, we are in the process of instructing in Occitania 27 PES, social plans, and 20 specifically concern the Haute-Garonne department" which houses Airbus and the galaxy of its subcontractors, confides to AFP, Christophe Lerouge, the head of the regional business management (Direccte).

Airbus has already announced the elimination of 3,500 jobs in Toulouse.

At the end of August, the equipment manufacturer Figeac Aéro announced the closure of 320 positions out of a total of 966.

"Withstand the shock" without losing skills

Christophe Lerouge estimates that "several thousand jobs" are threatened in Occitania.

"But the figures are not final and the objective is to reduce as much as possible the number of redundancies", he adds.

For the prefect of the region and of Haute-Garonne, Etienne Guyot, who recalls that the State has announced a support plan of 15 billion euros for the aeronautics sector, the issue "is that we do not lose skills in our aeronautics industry, one of the most powerful in the world ”.

Its objective is to ensure "that employees and companies can withstand the shock since things will resume."

It will resume gradually but it will resume "...
