Since the deconfinement, the rental offers of houses or apartments have exploded in France: + 25% for example on the seloger.com site.

A situation linked in particular to the drop in short-term rentals, and which is observed especially spectacularly in large cities.

People looking for accommodation have undoubtedly noticed it themselves by scanning the classifieds: there are many more apartments and houses to rent since the deconfinement.

This is confirmed by the managers of the real estate advertisements site Se Loger, who report an increase in offers of nearly 25% throughout France, and even much more in certain large cities.

In Paris, there were 64% more rental listings in June and July compared to the same period last year.

The increases are + 52% in Nice, + 39% in Bordeaux.

According to SeLoger, this is historic.

"The owners ensure that their accommodation is rented permanently and only once"

And for her spokesperson Séverine Amate, one of the main reasons for this phenomenon comes from the decline in short-term rentals, of the Airbnb type, less reassuring for owners in times of crisis.

"With - 80% of tourist frequentation in Paris, one can perhaps imagine that the lessors are a little more reluctant to continue on the short term and orient themselves more on the long-term rental to avoid the turnover", judge t -she.

"They make sure that, if there is a second confinement, their accommodation is rented permanently and only once."

This rental boom is also expressed through demand, which is also stronger: + 15% over one year at the national level.

This increase is explained by the tightening of credit granting conditions observed since the start of the year.

Many first-time buyers have thus found themselves excluded from the purchase and have therefore fallen back on rental.
