send shivers down your spine.

About sixty victims tell of

the wave of repression

during the major demonstrations of 2019 and in particular the repeated torture in prison.

For Anne Denis, co-head of the Abolition of the Death Penalty and Torture Commission within Amnesty International France, there are testimonies that show appalling torture.

“

Sham drownings, the application of electric shocks, a painful position that must be maintained for hours, deprivation of water or even food.

 "

Among those arrested: children

Torture to extract forced confessions, which allows the Iranian system to sentence simple demonstrators to terms of up to 10 years in prison, during unfair trials, according to Amnesty International.

What is also striking in the report is the scale of the arrests, 7,000 people, including children.

“

When we arrest families, in general, we arrest men and women but not children.

There were beatings with sticks, excessively violent arrests even if the children were not themselves tortured subsequently, but they were beaten during the arrests,

 ”says Anne-Denis.

Amnesty calls for the immediate release of the protesters still in prison and an end to impunity for torture in Iran.

To listen: Between crisis and repression, Tehran with its head held high

Detained.

Flogged.

Sexually abused.

Given electric shocks.
