“The agreement reached contains elements that improve the market position and prospects of our electricity producers,” said the head of the Estonian department Taavi Aas.

It is planned that a system for identifying the origin of electricity will be used to stop trading with Belarus.

In a reduced volume, trade will continue in the Russian-Latvian direction, and between Lithuania and Kaliningrad it will remain at its current volume.

The agreement will remain in effect until the synchronization of the energy systems of the Baltic states with Central Europe, scheduled for the end of 2025.

Earlier, the general director of the state corporation "Rosatom" Alexei Likhachev said that the construction project with the participation of Russia of the Belarusian nuclear power plant is proceeding normally.

According to the plan, the first power unit of the BelNPP should be commissioned in 2020.
