Abu Dhabi Economy requires that prices be written clearly on school supplies and sends warnings to violating sales outlets

The Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi called on sales outlets to clearly write prices on school supplies and adhere to the offered price offers, and issued warnings to violating outlets.

This came during the large-scale inspection campaigns carried out by the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi on the occasion of the return to school season, which included large outlets and commercial establishments that sell school bags, stationery and office supplies in the emirate.

The Consumer Protection Department in the department said that the campaigns aim to ensure that the outlets adhere to the prices of goods returning to schools and that there are no excesses or unjustified increases in their prices and that the sold goods conform to the applicable quality specifications, which contributes to protecting consumer rights and enhances the competitiveness and transparency of the market.

The administration explained to the Emirates today that the campaigns also aim to verify the validity of the discounts and value-added offers offered by the sales outlets on school supplies, stationery, bags and others, through comparison with the original prices.

And she stressed that the department directed the necessity to write the price on office supplies clearly, considering that knowing the price before buying is an original right of the consumer, and it also directed to adhere to the exact price offers.

The administration revealed that the department had issued a number of warnings to outlets during the tour, which are currently being counted for non-compliance with some directives aimed at preserving the rights of consumers.
