Smart Dubai launches the Professional Diploma for Digital Services Design

Smart Dubai, in cooperation with the University of Dubai and the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation, announced the launch of the Professional Diploma for Digital Services Design, exclusively for the "Smart City Experience Specialists" announced by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, in December 2019, with the aim of improving people's smart experience in Dubai and enhancing the role of smart city experience specialists.

Smart Dubai stated in a statement that the new diploma aims to introduce participants to the best modern digital mechanisms and practices in order to meet Dubai's aspirations to advance the digital experience of the smart city, in addition to supporting and empowering smart city experience specialists with the best tools and methodologies that will contribute to the digital transformation system and the pursuit of the city’s goals. Smart.

She added that the diploma will shed light on the mechanisms of using current and emerging technologies that will directly assist in the continuous improvements in several areas of the city, such as the economy, the environment, and the quality of digital life in Dubai, noting that this diploma falls under the "city design" program, one of the programs and projects of the happiness agenda.

The diploma, the first of its kind in the region and in the scope of smart cities, will be held between the first week of September and the first week of November 2020, and it includes 35 participants from 27 governmental and semi-governmental agencies and the private sector in Dubai.

The Assistant Director General of Smart Dubai, Younis Al Nasser, said, “Smart Dubai plays a pivotal role in leading the process of smart and digital transformation in Dubai, and is committed to providing all means and enablers to support the education sector with the aim of creating new specializations and programs in line with the requirements of smart cities and digital transformation.” Pointing out that "the diploma is a practical step towards achieving this goal."

He added that the participants in the diploma are experts in the field of smart cities and who possess extensive knowledge, will be able to obtain formal and academically accredited training in designing digital services, as they will have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge, and then their contributions to improving them, and to create new services that lead the process of digital transformation. In various sectors in Dubai.

For his part, the President of the University of Dubai, Dr. Issa Al-Bastaki, said that the focus of this program on digital technologies, design elements, research methods and service modernization is a new and beneficial approach to teaching emerging and modern technologies.
