China News Service, Guangzhou, August 28 (Guo Jun, Liu Wen) A reporter learned from Guangzhou Railway Group on the 28th that since August, the passenger flow of Guangzhou South Railway Station has continued to rise, with an average of 450,000 arrivals and departures per day, which is the same as last year’s average. Passenger flow is basically flat.

Guangzhou South Railway Station is the high-speed railway station with the largest passenger flow in China. Its passenger flow level has fully recovered, which shows that under the background of the epidemic's impact on the global economy, China has adopted effective strict prevention and control to gradually return to normal economic production activities.

According to reports, since August, the passenger flow of Guangzhou South Railway Station has continued to rise, with an average of 450,000 arrivals every day, and nearly a million arrivals and departures in two days on weekends. On August 15th, the number of arrivals reached a peak of 510,000 passengers. From August 25 to 28, the average daily passenger flow of Guangzhou South Railway Station was maintained at more than 450,000. The average daily passenger flow in August increased by 18% month-on-month.

At the same time, due to the superposition of business flows and tourism flows, the passenger flow of the Guangzhou-Zhuhai intercity railway from Guangzhou South Railway Station has continued to increase, with a month-on-month increase of 20% in August.

Entering the summer vacation, the Guangzhou Railway Group combined the needs of epidemic prevention and control and the pre-sale status of tickets, timely analysis and forecast of passenger flow, and adjustment of capacity in stages. Aiming at popular directions such as the Wuhan-Guangzhou section of the Beijing-Guangzhou high-speed railway, and the Chaoshan section of the Hangzhou-Shenzhen line, additional trains and heavy-duty-linked car marshalling were adopted to accurately increase the capacity and make the capacity arrangement more in line with passenger outflow needs. There are 428 pairs of daily operation trains at the highest peak of the Guangzhou South Railway Station, including 296 pairs from the start to the end and 132 pairs of cross-line trains. The Beijing-Guangzhou high-speed rail has an increase of more than 20 pairs from the daily chart.

With the liberalization of inter-provincial tourism and the warming of summer tourism, from July 17 to August 31, additional trains from Guangzhou South will be opened to Nanchang, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Nanning, Guiyang, Guilin, Kunming, Xiamen, Fuzhou, Trains in popular tourist directions such as Chaoshan and Yichang meet the travel needs of tourists.

The continuous growth of passenger flow has also put a major test on the prevention and control of the epidemic in the railway sector. Guangzhou South Railway Station is the railway station with the largest construction area in South China. In order to prevent and control the epidemic, station staff must disinfect and clean the huge station more than three times a day, and focus on disinfection of elevators, toilets, and customer service facilities.
