The Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) announced on Friday that the regulated gas sales tariffs, applied by Engie to millions of French households, will increase by 0.6% on September 1.

Regulated gas sales tariffs, applied by Engie to millions of French households, will increase by 0.6% on September 1, the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) announced on Friday. This increase will be, compared to the last scale in August, 0.2% for customers using gas for cooking, 0.4% for those who have dual use cooking and hot water, and 0.7 % for heating.

Increase in wake of rebound in gas prices

CRE warned at the beginning of June of sharp price increases in the second half of the year in the wake of the rebound in gas prices. A mechanism was thus put in place until February 2021 to smooth their development.

Since January 1, 2019, the regulated tariffs for the sale of gas from Engie have fallen by 24% in all, recalls the regulator on Friday. The law provides for the gradual phasing out by 2023 of regulated sales tariffs (TRV) for gas. Engie has therefore ceased to market contracts of this type, but continues for the moment to apply these tariffs to consumers already benefiting. In the future, only so-called market offers will remain, at prices freely set by the suppliers.
