“We must relocate and recreate production forces in our territories. Health and industrial sovereignty will be one of the pillars of the recovery plan, ”he has already tweeted on the spot.

This visit comes at a time when France is experiencing a resurgence of the Covid-19 epidemic leading the authorities to place 21 departments in the red zone and to make the wearing of masks compulsory in several large cities, including Paris.

A production of active ingredients to be relocated?

Founded in 1893, the Seqens group, the second European producer of active ingredients, is one of the world leaders in the active ingredient of paracetamol in its Chinese factory, but has started discussions with the French authorities to determine whether this production can be relocated.

This company produces in the Paris region about fifteen active ingredients used around the world, several of which have Covid emergency uses, underlines the Elysee. With 24 production sites worldwide, including 15 in France, Seqens has invested 290 million euros over the last decade in France.

Already visiting Sanofi on the same theme in June

Emmanuel Macron had announced during a visit to Sanofi in June that he wanted to relocate the production of paracetamol and more generally to initiate a strategy of "reconquest of health and industrial sovereignty".

Following this declaration, the government announced that France wanted to control the entire paracetamol production chain on its soil within three years and initiated discussions with Seqens, Upsa and Sanofi so that France would be in able to reproduce, package and distribute this drug.
