Tensions remain high between the IDF and Hezbollah

For several weeks now, Israel has been preparing for an operation by the Lebanese movement against its territory. He announced at the end of July that he had foiled an intrusion attempt by a Hezbollah commando group, which the movement had denied. And that night, a new clash between the two parties.

Late last night, the Israeli army spoke of a "security incident" along the demarcation line between Lebanon and Israel and asked residents of five localities in the north of the country to return to their homes and stay at home, near the rocket shelters. She then said that at 10:40 p.m., troops had come under gunfire from Lebanon.

The Israeli army then fired flares to make sure that no intrusion had taken place on its territory. And then in the night, in retaliation, Israeli helicopters and an Israeli plane hit Hezbollah observation posts in Lebanese territory. The Israeli army denounces a "serious event" and maintains its level of alert this Wednesday.

Tensions between the two sides escalated on July 20 when a Hezbollah agent was killed in Syria in a strike attributed to Israel. The Lebanese Shiite movement has promised to avenge his death.

However, this clash is the first since the explosion that devastated Beirut three weeks ago. Hezbollah has remained silent for the moment on the events of the night but if its role was confirmed, it would show that the internal situation in Lebanon does not distract it from its regional activities ... and that the risk of escalation remains.
