The back-to-school allowance is paid from Tuesday to some three million families. This year, due to the economic crisis triggered by the coronavirus epidemic, this aid has been increased by 100 euros per child.

Tomorrow the back-to-school allowance will be paid by the various CAFs. An allowance which is exceptionally increased this year, to compensate for the losses linked to the coronavirus epidemic. It is increased by 100 euros per child, enough to bring a real breath of fresh air for some families.

Three million households will benefit from this increase. It concerns families with modest incomes, since to be entitled to it the annual resources must be less than 25,000 euros for a dependent child.

"Everything is for my daughter"

The allowance is calculated according to the age of pupils from 6 to 18 years old. For a ten-year-old child, count this year 470 euros of state aid. This is the amount that will receive Stéphanie, who lives alone with her daughter Maélys. "Everything is for my daughter. This will allow me, this year, to give her more pleasure", explains this mother. "It's unfortunate, this situation had to happen to get a boost. But you have to know how to take it, without complaining," she adds.

The assistance will be paid automatically to families already receiving benefits. Others can apply through an online form.
