The virtual workshop, organized by Marassi "P&O", one of the DP World companies and the global developer of marinas, was held in cooperation with the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing in Dubai and "Emirates Airlines", to discuss the resumption of cruises in Dubai for the 2020 / 2021, and the maritime transport agents and stakeholders in this sector participated.

During the virtual workshop, it was announced that Dubai was ready for the next season of marine tourism with the beginning of the fall semester, and work is currently underway to finalize the draft safety and public health protocol for cruise ships, to be shared with the concerned parties as soon as possible.

Workshop discussions were chaired by the Director General of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing in Dubai (Dubai Tourism), Hilal Saeed Al-Marri, and the CEO of P&O Marinas and the Executive Director of Mina Rashid, Mohammed Al-Mannai.

Al-Marri said: “We put the safety and security of everyone at the top of our priorities, and we are keen on continuous coordination with our partners from government departments and the private sector, including cruise ship operators, to develop safety and public health protocols for this sector. We, in turn, confirm that we are committed to applying the highest international standards during the next season, from the moment the cruise ships arrive in Dubai and until they leave, to ensure the safety of everyone.

For his part, Al-Mannai said: “The health and safety of all community members and guests will remain at the forefront of our priorities, which was clearly evident in all the measures that were taken. The cruise sector is one of the fastest growing sectors in the travel industry, and we realize that the public is looking forward to seeing this sector return to its activity again, as soon as possible.

Adnan Kazim, Chief Commercial Officer at Emirates Airlines, said: “With regard to Emirates Airlines, we are fully committed to supporting the cruise ship sector and Dubai’s strategy, and on our part we are increasing our weekly flights to cover more European countries, where most of the demand comes. On the cruise business. We currently operate flights to 24 destinations, and this number will increase to 26 by the beginning of next September, as part of our efforts to open more destinations in the near future. With regard to health and safety precautions on board our flights, we have taken all the required measures to deliver a message to the world that we have returned to conduct our business efficiently. ”
