A few days ago, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs announced the operation of the agricultural and rural economy. Generally speaking, since the beginning of this year, the relevant departments have made all-out efforts to prevent and reduce disasters, highlight early rice harvesting and mid- and late rice harvesting, continue to promote the recovery of pig production, and strive to ensure stable production and supply of "vegetable basket" products, and agricultural and rural economy Overcoming the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic and floods, and continuing the positive trend. Experts said that agriculture is a basic industry, which is directly related to people's livelihood and is also an important foundation for high-quality economic development. Stable agricultural production and the improvement of the agricultural economy not only reflect the strong resilience of the Chinese economy, but also contribute to the improvement of the world's food security situation.

Autumn crops are growing well

On August 16, Liu Zhengli, a large grain grower in Guangshan County, Xinyang City, Henan Province, got up early on purpose. After overcoming all kinds of difficulties, Liu Zhengli finally hoped that this year, more than 1,300 acres of regenerated rice stubble would be sickened. "Despite drought and flood this year, the first crop yielded at least 600 kilograms per mu. Although the yield of the second crop was low, the price of rice was high, and there was a gain of thousands of yuan per mu." Liu Zhengli said with a smile.

In Wuchang City, Heilongjiang Province, the rice seedlings were bent by the heavy ears of rice. A farmer in the local cooperative randomly picked a rice plant and counted it. There were 162 rice grains inside. “The more branches on a single plant, the more rice grains, and the higher the yield. 162 grains indicate a bumper harvest this year.” said the experienced farmer.

Whether it is the smiles of large grain growers or the full ears of rice, they are the epitome of steady progress in agricultural production. According to the person in charge of the Development Planning Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, most of the northeast corn is in the silking to filling period, the soybean is in the pod-setting period, and the rice is in the full-earing to blooming period. The growth is generally better than the previous year. Most of the corn in Huanghuaihai area is from the big bell mouth stage to the tasseling and silking stage, and the growth is normal. The impact of flood disasters on mid-late rice production is generally limited; double-cropping late rice rush-planting and rush-planting has accelerated, and more than 90% of it has been completed.

At the same time, according to the field survey by the rice expert guidance group of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the number of ears per mu and the number of grains per ear of early rice increased this year, and the seed setting rate and 1000-grain weight decreased due to the impact of the previous floods. Due to the larger area increase, the total output is expected to increase.

"In recent years, the Party Central Committee and the State Council have attached great importance to agricultural production. Agricultural investment has gradually increased. China's grain production has stabilized at more than 1.3 trillion catties for five consecutive years. At present, the country's grain stocks are relatively sufficient, and this year's summer grain has also been achieved. A bumper harvest, a record high, and the output of summer grains increased by 0.9% over the previous year. On the whole, agricultural investment has gradually increased in recent years, and there is still a good foundation for food stability.” said Fu Linghui, spokesperson for the National Bureau of Statistics.

The pig stock has recovered significantly

A few days ago, the pig breeding ecological recycling agricultural science and technology park project introduced in Qijiang District of Chongqing officially started. After the project is completed, it will be used for the construction and operation of 4,800 breeding pig breeding bases and 100,000 fattening pigs, which will increase the stamina for the local live pig supply.

According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, national pig production continued to recover quickly in July, the stock of breeding sows increased steadily, and the stock of pigs began to increase year-on-year. In July, the stock of reproductive sows increased by 4.0% month-on-month, 10 consecutive months of growth, year-on-year growth of 20.3%; pig stocks increased by 4.8% month-on-month, 6 consecutive months of growth, year-on-year growth of 13.1%. On the whole, the production of vegetables, fruits, meat, beef, sheep, poultry and aquatic products remained stable.

At the same time, in July, 2,916 newly-built large-scale pig farms were put into production. Since the beginning of this year, the total number of newly-built large-scale pig farms has reached 9,093. Last year, there were 11,202 large-scale pig farms that were empty. The enthusiasm of scattered-raising households has further recovered. The stocks of live pigs and reproductive sows in the 4000 designated monitoring villages have increased for 6 consecutive months. The proportion of pig-raising households in the total number of households in the village is 8.3%, which is lower than the historical low in February. An increase of 0.7%.

The relevant person in charge of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs stated that in accordance with the cyclical law of live pig production, the production capacity restoration process is first to restore the growth of the breeding sow stock, then the live pig stock to resume growth, and then the slaughter to resume growth. The year-on-year growth of the live pig stock indicates that the number of live pigs will also achieve a year-on-year increase in 5-6 months, which will fundamentally reverse the tight supply situation in the market.

According to Tang Huajun, President of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the African swine fever vaccine independently developed by the Harbin Veterinary Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences is progressing well. Up to now, the immunized pigs are in good growth status and have no obvious clinical adverse reactions; the immunized pigs have no obvious pathological changes, no vaccine poison emissions, and no horizontal transmission; the immune protection rate of different doses of inoculation groups is more than 80%.

Agricultural investment continues to pick up

At the same time that agricultural production continues to improve, agribusiness and investment in agriculture have also released more positive signals.

In terms of enterprises, in July, the Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) of key leading enterprises in the national agricultural industrialization was 52.1%, staying above the decline line for five consecutive months, 1 percentage point higher than the manufacturing industry. The e-commerce of agricultural products developed rapidly, and the online retail sales of agricultural products maintained double-digit growth from January to July.

In terms of investment, from January to July, the local government's special debt was used for agricultural and rural areas to exceed 90 billion yuan, and the construction of high-standard farmland and cold chain logistics facilities for storage and preservation of agricultural products was accelerated. Fixed asset investment in the primary industry reached 980.6 billion yuan, an increase of 7.7% year-on-year, and positive growth for two consecutive months, of which investment in animal husbandry increased by 59.2% year-on-year.

Li Binglong, a professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics of the School of Economics and Management of China Agricultural University, pointed out in an interview with our reporter that the new crown pneumonia epidemic has had a relatively large impact on all aspects of economic operation. From the perspective of agriculture, the supply side is still the main aspect of the contradiction. . China's agricultural production is stable and improving. The early rice production is expected to increase, the autumn crops are growing well, and the recovery of live pigs continues to improve. This not only increases the confidence to maintain basic people's livelihood, but also makes a positive contribution to improving the world food security situation.

The aforementioned person in charge of the Development Planning Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs stated that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs will implement various disaster prevention and mitigation measures, strengthen the prevention and control of field management and pests in the middle and late autumn crops, and strive to achieve disaster resistance and harvest; unswervingly grasp the production of pigs and strengthen Africa To prevent and control the swine fever epidemic, consolidate the recovery of live pigs; strengthen the research and judgment of the supply and demand situation, take multiple measures to ensure the stable supply of soybeans, and promote the export of advantageous agricultural products; coordinate the promotion of various key tasks in agriculture and rural areas, and consolidate the good situation of agricultural and rural economic development.
