Telework Moves to utilize common areas of company housing and vacant rooms in hotels 10:35 on August 16

There is a growing trend among companies to utilize shared areas of company housing and vacant rooms of hotels as work spaces so that work efficiency can be maintained even during telework.

Telework is spreading among companies due to the spread of the new coronavirus, but some say that it is difficult to concentrate on work at homes with small children.

Against this backdrop, Kawasaki Heavy Industries established a space dedicated to telework in July in a company house in Urayasu City, Chiba Prefecture.

There are desks and chairs that can be used by up to 9 people in one corner of the meeting place, and there is a partition between the seats to prevent the spread of infection.

At the company, we will create such a dedicated space in other company housing in Hyogo Prefecture as well to support telework.

Keisuke Mine, General Manager of the General Affairs Division of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, said, "The advantage is that we do not have to make preparations to use our own facilities. The way we work has changed significantly, and speedy correspondence is needed."

In addition, major travel agencies such as "JTB" are planning to start a service to rent out hotel vacant rooms for telework and conferences for contracted companies from the end of this month, and will not reduce work efficiency as telework becomes established. Ingenuity and services are beginning to spread.
