For his part, the Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, Mattar Al Tayer, said that issuing the regulatory and operational regulations for air vehicles in urban areas is an important step in organizing the operation of the "air taxi".

Al Tayer said that the Roads and Transport Authority has worked side by side with the General Authority of Civil Aviation in the country, to develop the legislative and operational framework, and to define the specifications and standards necessary for operators in the emirate for this type of vehicle, so that these regulatory legislation is ready before the specified date for the commercial and official operation of air vehicles.

He added: “The issuance of these regulations supports the RTA’s efforts in translating the Dubai Strategy for Self-Driving Intelligent Mobility, which aims to convert 25% of the total mobility trips in Dubai into self-driving trips by various means of transportation by 2030.”

In turn, the Director General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Saif Mohammed Al-Suwaidi, said that this legislative framework for operation is the first of its kind in the world, and contributes to strengthening the leadership of the UAE in organizing the operational process of air vehicles.
