On the 14th, the State Forestry and Grassland Administration of China revealed that the current national park system pilot work has entered a "countdown," and officials have started the evaluation and acceptance of the pilot area. It is expected that a list of national park recommendations will be officially established by the end of the year.
Currently, there are 10 national park system pilot projects in China, including Siberian tigers and leopards, Qilian Mountains, giant pandas, Sanjiangyuan, Hainan tropical rainforest, Wuyishan, Shennongjia, Pudacuo, Qianjiangyuan, and Nanshan. The pilot areas involve 12 provinces with a total It covers an area of more than 220,000 square kilometers, accounting for about 2.3% of China's land area.
In the past five years, the pilot areas have achieved certain results in ecological restoration by integrating various types of nature reserves at all levels, setting up management agencies, preparing overall plans, implementing unified management, overall protection and system restoration. For example, the Wuyi Mountain pilot area has completed ecological restoration of 6,500 mu, and the giant panda pilot area has restored nearly 40,000 mu of giant panda habitat.
While protecting the authenticity of the natural ecosystem, the pilot area is also actively exploring ways to realize "green water and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains", and establish a coordinated community development and ecological compensation system. Among them, the Sanjiangyuan pilot area set up "one household, one post" ecological management and protection public welfare positions, 17,211 herders were transformed into management and protection staff, the average household income increased by 21,600 yuan, and the Northeast Tiger and Leopard pilot area implemented the "scalp downhill" project , To promote the transformation and development of the cattle breeding industry.
The relevant person in charge of the National Forestry and Grass Administration stated that the national park system trial is progressing smoothly. The National Forestry and Grassland Administration is organizing a third party to evaluate and accept the completion of the tasks in the 10 national park system pilot areas, which is expected to be completed by the end of October. In the next step, the pilot tasks will be fully completed, the procedures and spatial layout of national parks will be clarified, national park legislation will be promoted, and a number of national parks with global value, national symbols and high national recognition will be formally built.
