“We can confirm that there was a demarche on US sanctions policy on August 12 during the meeting of the EU delegation with the US Department of State,” the sources said.
Representatives of 24 EU member states took part in the demarche.
Earlier, the EU said that they are developing a mechanism to counter the sanctions of third countries, including against Nord Stream 2.
In mid-July, the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that the European Union opposes the unilateral US sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 and Turkish Stream projects.
