Lebanon: Hassan Diab announces the resignation of the government

Hassan Diab, the Lebanese Prime Minister, announced on Monday August 10 the immediate resignation of his government, after the explosion which occurred at the port of Beirut on August 4 and which claimed the lives of at least 160 people and injured more than 6,000 people. The accident is the result of "endemic corruption" in the words of the Prime Minister. In his televised address, Hassan Diab said he wanted those responsible for this “crime” to be brought to justice.
