This precaution should not, however, make you negligent. You must also notify your employer, social organizations such as the family allowance fund, your health insurance fund, your mutual insurance company as well as public administrations and your bank as soon as possible. With regard to public bodies, the Service-public.fr platform offers a dedicated online declaration service, in order to simultaneously inform several institutions (social security funds, employment center, taxes, gas, electricity). You just need to bring a certificate or an invoice containing your identity to make this declaration of change of contact details in a few clicks in the three months preceding or following your change of domicile.
Your up-to-date papers
If your change of domicile is of primary interest to your service providers, the public administration also intends to know where to find you. The law requires you to update your address on your vehicle's registration card within one month of moving. The modification request is made online, on Immatriculation.ants.gouv.fr (free until the 3rd change and 2.76 euros from the 4th). You will receive a label to affix to your registration certificate. The driver's license and identity card, however, do not need to be changed. It will suffice to indicate your new address the next time you renew your papers.
Conversely, take the opportunity to register on the electoral rolls of your host municipality. Here again, this is possible on the Internet, on the town hall website or via Service-public.fr.
