British Finance Minister Rishi Sunak still holds a trade deal between the UK and the European Union in September, he said in an interview with Sky News on Friday morning .

Sunak remains confident that the negotiations between the UK and the EU will run smoothly. Any trade agreement should make trade between the two economies easier, fair and cheaper.

Several rounds of negotiations between representatives of both camps have taken place in recent months.

EU negotiator Michel Barnier has repeatedly said that the negotiations are going very difficult. However, both Barnier and the UK Treasury have also expressed more optimism recently.

The next round of negotiations, number seven, is scheduled for August 17.
