The entry of foreign tourists in Spain fell 97.7% in June compared to the same month in 2019, to 204,926 tourists, while spending fell 98.6%, to 133 million euros, according to the data released this Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

Neighboring France was the main issuing country in June, with 64,895 tourists, 31.7% of the total, although the figure represents a decrease of 93.2% compared to June last year.

Germany was the second issuing country, with 16.5% of the total, followed by the Netherlands (6%), Italy (5.1%) and the United Kingdom (4.1%).

The average expenditure per tourist in June was 651 euros, 40.6% less in the interannual rate, while the average daily expenditure fell 30.4%, to 114 euros.

Between January and June, the arrival of international tourists decreased by 71.7% in the interannual rate, to almost 10.8 million people.

In the same first half, the accumulated spending by foreign visitors fell by 70.6% compared to the same period in 2019, to 11,840 million euros (40,380 million between January and June 2019).
