James Murdoch, the son of media entrepreneur and founder Rupert Murdoch, has resigned from News Corporation, reports British daily The Times on Saturday.

Murdoch was until recently on the company's board of directors. The News Corporation founder's son leaves the company due to disagreements over editorial content and strategic decisions, he announced in his letter of resignation on Friday.

Murdoch's criticism of the conservative tone of many News Corporation newspapers is believed to play an important role in his decision.

The Australian multi-billionaire's son has been angry for some time about News Corporation's skeptical attitude to the climate debate. In addition, he is said to have donated millions to US Presidential candidate Joe Biden.

News Corporation owns major English-language newspapers such as the Wall Street Journal and The Times .
