It is a small "adjustment" which could affect thousands of young French people. The aid of 4,000 euros for the hiring of a young person will ultimately apply to those under 26, and not only to those under 25 as initially announced by the executive, according to the draft decree sent to the social partners and obtained Wednesday by AFP.

During the presentation of the youth plan on July 23, the government had however specified that this measure would only apply to under 25s while the other integration and training measures concern those under 26.

An "adjustment"

Asked about this rectification, the Ministry of Labor therefore recognizes "an adjustment". According to a union source, this "represents 10% more young people", according to data communicated during the consultation.

As announced, the aid will apply to recruitments, on CDI or CDD of at least three months, carried out by a company or an association from August 1 to January 31 for a remuneration less than or equal to two minimum wage.

45,000 contracts expected

This amount will be "prorated according to the amount of working time of the employee and the effective duration of the employment contract", according to the text. The draft decree also specifies that the employer must not have proceeded, as of January 1, 2020, to a dismissal for economic reasons in the post concerned by the aid.

In the event of successive contracts, the employer will continue to benefit from the aid if the employee is 26 years old during this period. The government expects 450,000 contracts signed thanks to this boost.
