This is stated in a message on the website of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

"Dmitry Kuleba and Jacek Chaputovich stressed that the Russian project Nord Stream 2 poses a threat to the energy security of the whole of Europe and agreed to take further steps to prevent its implementation," the website says.

As specified, the parties agreed to develop last year's trilateral memorandum between Ukraine, Poland and the United States on cooperation in the energy sector in order to diversify energy supply sources.

In March, Chaputovich said that the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline would lead to negative political and economic consequences for the European Union and dependence on Gazprom.

According to the Polish minister, the project poses "a threat to European solidarity and energy security."

Vladislav Belov, head of the Center for German Studies at the Institute of Europe, Russian Academy of Sciences, assessed the situation around Nord Stream 2.
