The Minister for Industry, Agnès Pannier-Runacher, goes to Lannion on Monday to meet with Nokia employees, threatened by a social plan. A social plan that the minister said to reject, saying that there was "no question of letting Lannion die slowly".

Nokia employees are worried, the Minister for Industry is furious. While the telecommunications company plans a global plan of more than 1,200 job cuts in the country, 400 relate to the Breton site of Lannion. "There is no question of letting Lannion die slowly," said Agnès Pannier-Runacher, Monday on CNEWS. The latter has clearly stated that she is contesting this social plan.

#Nokia: there is no question of letting the #Lannion site slowly die off. I do not understand how Nokia can implement a social plan today when they are positioned in markets of the future like # 5G and # Cybersecurity.pic.twitter.com / f1KMRVJBPB

"Nokia shoots itself in the foot"

"I do not understand how Nokia can make a social plan today when they are positioned on telecommunications equipment, 5G and cybersecurity, which are markets of the future, and that Lannion is bringing together research and development in these two areas, "said the minister, who will visit the site during the day.

On site, employees are worried but satisfied with this ministerial support in the looming fight against their management.

"We hope to be able to take stock with the minister concerning the file", explains Fabien Trémulot, CFDT central delegate of Nokia-Lannion, evoking "an incomprehensible PSE because Nokia is doing well". Indeed, if the telecommunications market is very competitive, Nokia is doing well, he continues. "Today, it is a trench war", abounds the union representative who regrets to see Nokia "shoot itself in the foot" by providing for the elimination of 1,233 positions. "Business and projects will be at risk if Nokia implements its plan."
