"We do not confirm that construction work on Nord Stream 2 is prohibited until the end of September due to the spawning period of cod," RIA Novosti quotes Falbe-Hansen.

He said that Nord Stream 2 AG "should avoid laying pipes in the fishing restriction zone, known as the Bornholm Basin, between July and August, when cod spawns."

According to him, Nord Stream 2 AG "completed the laying of pipes in this area in December 2019, and this condition does not apply to the rest of the route."

Earlier, the media reported that pipelayers are temporarily unable to start work on the construction of Nord Stream 2 in the territorial waters of Denmark due to spawning of cod.

Nord Stream 2 AG, commenting on this message, noted “pipes have already been laid through this fishing restriction zone”.

On July 6, it became known that Nord Stream 2 AG received permission from the Danish Energy Agency to complete the construction of Nord Stream 2 in its waters using pipe-laying vessels with anchor positioning.
