Nursery, canteen, hospital, fines, taxes: some payments can be made in tobacconists from this Tuesday, said the Ministry of the Economy.

The device had been tested since the end of February in 18 departments. It will therefore be generalized throughout the territory. In total, "there are thus nearly 5,100 local payment points (spread over 3,400 municipalities) which will be able to accommodate users as close as possible to their homes and at extended opening hours," the ministry said in its press release.

La Française des jeux secure terminals

In practice, it will be necessary to bring the invoice or the tax notice sent by email or by mail after making sure that it includes a "QR code" and
that the words "payable to a tobacconist. »Appears in the payment terms.

"Once at an approved tobacconist (recognizable by the poster affixed to its storefront and the list of which is available here), the user, with his invoice, scans his QR code and pays", details the ministry.

There is therefore no risk of disclosing personal information by entrusting its invoice or its opinion to a third party: "the payment is made in complete confidentiality using a secure terminal of the Française des Jeux already available and adapted for this purpose" , specifies Bercy.

Limit 300 euros for taxes

In detail, for most of the bills of daily life, it will be possible to pay up to 300 euros in cash and without limit on the amount by bank card.

For taxes, the maximum amount will be 300 euros in cash or credit card. Beyond that, you will have to pay online. And in both cases, no payment by check will be accepted.

Bercy estimates that “in the long term, around 2 million invoices per year can be paid at these new local contact points”.
